Artists and Bourgeois

Coming from a comfortable bourgeois background, Casas and Rusiñol were able to devote themselves to art without financial worries. This allowed them to undertake many travels around Spain and Europe and explore various artistic genres from a modern naturalist approach during their early years: intimate interiors, social themes, portraits and landscapes in which their chief concern was to achieve a realistic handling of light and space.
