What are the Museum’s opening hours?
- Tuesday to Sunday:
- 10.00 - 20.00h.
- Monday: closed
The Museum is closed on 25 December and 1 January.
Is there free entry to the Museum on any day?
Yes, entry is free all day on 18 May, “International Museums Day”. In addition, during cultural events such as “European Museums Night” and “White Night” there is free entry for part of the day.
How long does it take to see the Museum?
An average visit lasts 1 hour 30 minutes.
What does the Permanent Collection consist of? And the Temporary Exhibition?
The Museum’s Permanent Collection comprises a remarkable collection of works that offers a comprehensive overview of the principal genres within 19th-century Spanish painting with a particular emphasis on Andalusia. For more information, see the Collection section on this website. In the Temporary Exhibitions section of the website you can also consult the micro-sites created for each exhibition.
What reductions are there?
A reduced price ticket to the Permanent Collection costs 3.50 Euros. It is available to visitors aged over 65, pensioners, students aged under 26, Large Families, visitors with disabilities and the unemployed. Proof of status required. Entry is free for accompanied children aged under 12.
Are there guided tours of the Museum?
Yes, you can pre-book a guided tour a minimum of 48 hours beforehand on tel: 902 303 131 or by e-mail: info@carmenthyssenmalaga.org. In the near future there will be guides in the Museum at certain times of day who will offer you a tour without the need to pre-book.
Are there any accessibility problems in the building?
No, the Museum has lifts and ramps so that all the galleries and other spaces can be reached easily and rapidly. In addition, the Cloakroom has free wheelchairs for visitors with reduced mobility should they need one.
Are there any activities for children?
Yes, the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga has an Educational Programme that covers all sectors of the public.
Where do the works in the Temporary Exhibitions come from?
The works in the temporary exhibitions shown at the Museum are loaned from national and international museums and collections. The Temporary Exhibitions section on this website has information on all our exhibitions.
