Alternative Leisure Options

Saturday 5 November 2011. 10pm to 1am

The Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga is involved in the “Alternative Leisure Options” programme organised by the City Council’s Youth Department with the aim of offering young people aged between 16 and 35 new and different leisure activities.

On the night of 5 November all those who have previously booked can visit the Museum’s galleries and also enjoy a concert in the Column Courtyard of the Palacio de Villalón. The programme will feature two concerts. The first, starting at 11pm, will be performed by the Promúsica Young Chamber Orchestra and will comprise three works: Don Quixote Suite (Telemann), Concerto Grosso (Manfredini) and the “Palladio” Concerto Grosso (Jenkins). It will be followed by the Promúsica Chamber Orchestra who will perform La Oración del Torero (Joaquín Turina), Aria from the Bachiana Bralireira no. 5 (Villa-Lobos), and Simple Symphony for Strings, opus 4 (Britten).

Micro-story Competition

In addition, on the same date there will be a creative writing competition in which all young visitors to the Museum can take part. Participants have to compose a micro-story on a painting in the Collection, taking their starting point from the shortest story in the history of literature, The Dinosaur by Augusto Monterroso.

The selected painting is Winter in Andalusia (Poplar Grove with Sheep in Alcalá de Guadaira) by Sánchez-Perrier (1880). The writers of the most creative short stories will be awarded a print of that work.
